I would like to see some licenses that don't punish but rather encourage people to use our software. Something that will make others want to give back and not force them to. Lets face it if someone is truly going to just take the code and leave then they really won't care about the license.
Also we are not an entity and as such it might be hard to enforce a license should someone go against it.
Another big thing is keep it simple.
My ideal license would read something like this:
The following source code may be used freely and openly however you chose.
If you do choose to use it, an acknowledgement would be appreciated but isn't required.
If you wish to use it for commercial or closed source uses you may do so freely as well.
Please don't claim that the origin or original code is yours.
Finally, if you do happen to enhance or improve the source code, providing those changes
to the community would be appreciated, but again not required.
