How many dimensions will we utilize, and are ships going to

Postby Killerbunny » Tue Jan 28, 2014 3:37 pm

I have two basic questions that would change the gameplay a lot.
Are we making a full 3D space where up and down, left and right are irrelevant terms. Or are we making a pancake version of space, Much like the game Spore has.

The second question is if we are making spaceships have orbits or not.

I have no idea where you are coming from. The game has been planned to be 3D for as long as the 0x10c-idea existed.
Well, technically it would appear 4-dimensionally, but sssshhhh. ;)

In some 3d space games you feel like your flying in what seems like a thick pancake. Its strange that in a 3D world every object is level at the same plane. Will I be able to fly my spaceship upside down relative to other players? When my spaceship is heading for a new star/ planet, will all the other stars / planets be in from of me, or will they be in front, back and side of my spaceship?
3d can be executed many different ways, so I am wondering how trillek is planing to do it.

I had troubles sleeping last night, some might say it was because of the heat. But I think that tonight I can sleep with my sole at rest :p

I think that in trillek the pancake will be too thick to make one feel limited in that direction. I also think that within solar systems you will be able to point your ship in any direction you choose.

that brings to mind another related issue. if we have total control given to the player on which direction their ship moves, then people might easily get dizzy or even sick. is there a way to remedy this?
