MILESTONE 2.5 RELEASED

MILESTONE 2.5 RELEASED

Postby ShaneDalton » Sun Jan 26, 2014 10:21 am

Greetings all! Two releases in one month, woo!
This one is focusing on an important part of Trillek, the cpu now once again TAKE NOTE that this is just an engine tech demo to show you our progress! It's not actual gameplay at the moment, however there is the potential for fun to be had with the TR3200.
But first... FOR THE LOVE OF SPACE READ THE README FILE

THE TR3200 MAN'S BEST FRIEND
This is the major feature of this build and also a heavy concept in Trillek, I won't write down too much in this post since all your information is in the TR3200 Readme.txt but I will touch on some points.
First off, at the moment the cpu only has a Assembly compiler a C compiler is planned for soon..ish. At the moment this is just to show off our cpu and our VM.

Secondly, some things like using the keyboard and selecting a ROM file is a bit finnicky and weird this is planned to be improved on in MS3 and if something goes wrong try restarting Sigma.
You can find info on how to create things for the computer in the Tr3200 readme as well as some basic controls for it.

AUDIO IMPROVEMENTS
We've improved our Audio engine and as a bonus have replaced the Music with some... well you'll see. ;)

ADDITIONAL THINGS
Aside from those major changes, we've also done some small changes listed here.
Added banding to the Flashlight shader to make it look better and more realistic.
Fixed the wall angle bug with the Flashlight
Improved the camera
Added collision to the TR3200 computer

EDIT: Almost forgot to give special thanks to Meisaka! He forgot the warm embrace of sleep to finish ms2.5!

Well done to all who contributed, so glad to see the VM integration coming to fruition. Just in time for my birthday tomorrow too! :D

Congratulations!

Awesome! I like the ambient noise in this build. I also like pushing buttons and hearing noise from the TR3200's keyboard. :D

Any chance that anyone can build for Mac and possibly Linux so we can put it on this page?

Hi,

I just build this on Arch 64-bit. I could provide you with my build, but I don't know if this works on other distros, because it is linked against my binaries. Other distros most likely have older versions of the libraries. I could however provide an PKGBUILD and put it on the AUR, if desired. (I am also willing to update it, as long as you write me an e-mail every time you release something.)

Sadly I am unable to change the loaded program of the vm. It just ignores my settings and loads test.asm.bin. (I hope it is okay to report a bug here..)

I'm not sure, but I think there already is someone who's said that he/she will maintain it.
Either way, thanks for the offer! :)

I did a tgz of my build on a kUbuntu 13.10 64 bits. I can't listen the footsteps or the keyboard (looks that is a codec problem), but should work fine if you fulfill the requisites that are in the readme file .

Hey, I'm putting Zardoz's build up as the official linux build since it works pretty well!

What happend with the User Interface? And the sound controls? I didnt expected the music disapearing like that, even if the footsteps were a cood thing i didnt expected. Also, there is a few bugs from Miletstone 2 than werent fixed, the flashlight going into the walls and the flashling only being usable inside the Ship.
But besides than, this is really cool. The light from the flashlight seems more realistic, and the footsteps and the fact than is dark in some places gives me a kinda creepy mood. Also, the TR3200 is finally here!
Congratulations! c:

It was disabled for this release due to lack of purpose. It's still in the code, though.

And what about the rest of the stuff than should have been on M 2.5?
