I've seen it before. If OpenGL version in that console widnow doesn't say 3.1 attempt to update your video card drivers.

I opened a ticket on github about SDL2main hard dependency that is more a problem than a solution on Linux.

I get the following error:

Code: Select all

EDIT: The solution is to remove (with a text editor) the line containing "&ViewMover" at the beginning of the file test.sc.

A litlle information of all the errors I got until I now. I am running gentoo Linux on amd64. It may help.

At build time:

Code: Select all
BulletMover.cpp:(.text+0x2e7): undefined reference to `btCollisionObject::setActivationState(int) const'

=> update bullet library on your system to the latest version (2.81 on my system).

Code: Select all
libSDL2main.so : no such file or directory

Recompile sdl library with version 2.0.0. Do not use the svn/git repo.

At Run time:

Code: Select all
GLEW Error: Invalid GL context

Run glxinfo to get the version of OpenGL that you have. Minimum required is 3.1. Update your graphic driver or, in the worst case, buy a new GPU. In my case, I use nouveau driver with mesa-9.2.1 that supports openGL3.1

Code: Select all
Error: Couldn't find component: ViewMover

Edit the file test.sc and remove the line &Viewmover at the beginning.

Code: Select all
Creating component of type: GLIcoSphere
Segmentation fault

Your graphic card is old, like mine. GLEW does not like this and complains.
You must edit the source: open src/os/sdl/SDLSys.cpp, and around line 25 add a line like this:

Code: Select all
this->_Context = SDL_GL_CreateContext(this->_Window);

glewExperimental=GL_TRUE;
GLenum glew_err = glewInit();

and recompile. I will submit a PR to fix this. EDIT: fixed

Last but not least, SOIL library has a problem with OpenGL 3.1 and triggers a segfault. I submitted a PR to fix this temporarily since SOIL will be replaced.

There may be another segfault that was described here. Just comment the lines to get rid of the errors. This should be fixed in next release.

EDIT: I successed in compiling and running the game. I replaced the nouveau driver by the Nvidia proprietary driver since nouveau has a problem I did not get in.

I dont know a lot about programming, but i really like videogames, and i really liked 0x10c (and of course, Trillek). So as a player i just played the Milestone 1 from Trillek, and i think there should be some basic things to be added to Milestone 2.

- Sprint, it looked so fun to run around the spaceship in 0x10c.
- Jump
- Have a gun
- Sound effects like the ones from 0x10c
- Should the spaceship be on the middle of the space?
- Those planets at the background didnt saw realistic at all.

I really support and love this game, as some normal gamer who played the game, i think than some of those things would really help to see the game as an actual game, not just some early demonstrarion, even if its reaaaaaally early, like this.

I hope i can see some of this stuff on the next Milestone of Trillek, cant wait to see more and good luck :D

Oh absolutely. The base is actually on a Mars textured planet. Movement boost is in, not a big boost though, hold the b key. Jump should be easy enough, but the focus was on getting a playable and not in looks or the best controls.

I'm on the art team, with my specialty being environment art, but I haven't received any notifications about group assignments. When will our work begin?
