MILESTONE 1 RELEASED!!!

MILESTONE 1 RELEASED!!!

Postby ShaneDalton » Fri Oct 18, 2013 11:29 am

After many sleepless nights from Adam, our lead developer I am proud to announce that milestone 1 is now released wiew!

BUT, before you read any further take note, if you are expecting countless hours of gameplay this is not for you. This is for those who want to check in on progress and play around with our test builds, this build is mainly moving around a maze of rooms (with some extra easter eggs in there ;) ). And it's designed to show off our technology and our current progress on development! Our design document should be coming any time soon and that will give you a rather detailed list of our milestones from our Lead Designer DarkSpartan!

Also, this is running on Sigma a sort of framework for trillek's engine so while this isn't the final engine this is a pretty good look at what the engine will act like.

This is only the start of an amazing journey, one that we hope you will stick with in the long run!

Now.. https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/trillek/trillek_m1.1.zip (windows)
*linux coming soon*
EDIT: Updated to v1.1 find changelog in txt file.

Here are the Linux instructions. However, the Linux build is slightly outdated and does not include the airlock exit (which is present in the Windows version), but at least it works. It also does not have an easter egg.

Building process on Linux
I made a tarball, as the compilation process from the GitHub repository is messy. We'll clean this up, though.
Requires CMake and a C++11 compiler.
Dependencies are SDL 2, GLEW, SOIL and Bullet.

1. Grab the source tarball: http://trillek.danix111.com/sigma-0.01.tar.gz
2. Extract it and go into its directory.
3. Use the following commands to build and execute:
Code: Select all
mkdir build
cd build
cmake ..
make
cp ./bin/Sigma ../Sigma
cd ..
./Sigma

Debian packages
I also built a pair of Debian packages (executable is only amd64 for now, but if there is a demand, I can do one for i386 too).

Download links:
http://trillek.danix111.com/sigma-data_0.01_all.deb - Assets
http://trillek.danix111.com/sigma_0.01-1_amd64.deb - Executable

Instructions:
1. Download both of the files.
2. Enter the terminal as root, or use sudo for each command.
3. Install the packages:
Code: Select all
# dpkg -i sigma-data_0.01_all.deb
# dpkg -i sigma_0.01-1_amd64.deb

You'll probably have to fix missing dependencies:
Code: Select all
# apt-get -f install

4. Run the game:
Code: Select all
$ sigma

Thanks but I was reffering to "what I need to install in order to run this" ? :) Like some Microsoft Redistributable package or something? Because on XP machine it keep saying that "is not valid Win32 application".

Congrats to Adam and to all the guys to contributed with Sigma.

Fumy thing, yesterday I could compile and execute it, but now (this in Kubuntu 13.10 x64) :
- I can't compile from GIT, as I get an error in bullet include files.
- Compiling from the tarball file, works OK, but now the mice is unreliable, and full screen show me only half of the screen.
- I have problems with the DEBs files in Kubuntu 13.10. Ask for libglew1.7, that isn't in Ubuntu, I can use libglew 1.8 or libglew1.6. Forcing to install, an executing it, give me a dynamic linking error.

This could be related that I updated from Kubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 yesterday, but I checked that other OpenGL games keeps working at full screen in various resolutions without problems.
Yep, I have a blog : http://zardoz.es
